Exhibited in 13 different cities the “Contemporary Art from Germany (Future Perfect)” exhibition has met Ankara art lovers for the first time. The exhibition opened in Müze Evliyagil consists of photographs, sculptures, objects, films, paintings and collages bearing the signature of 16 artists who look to the future and speculate on the flow of history. Curated by Angelika Stepken and Philipp Ziegler, the exhibition is called Future Perfect, referring to the tense of an action that will be completed in the future, giving the audience the message that “something will happen.” The exhibition asks the audience, If the future can be perceived as an already lived past, despite this, how can a vision of the future be created? The exhibition also develops ideas about the promises and bids of the future. Artists participated in the project attract attention to questions such as, How can we develop an understanding of something already happened, will happen in the future? What kind of positions are artists adopting in their use of material, form, imagination, plot, or narrative? How are they rethinking the past? Where do they see options for action?”.

The exhibition will be open until January 19 and every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, between 11 am to 5 pm.

“A WARNING EXHIBITION”

The opening cocktail for the exhibition was hosted by Sarp Evliyagil, the founder of the Museum Evliyagil, attended by diplomats, art spectators, business people and art lovers. Museum Evliyagil Coordinator Can Akgümüş gave information about the exhibition. “There are 16 artists in the Contemporary Art from Germany. These are artists who live in Germany or are of German descent. This is an exhibition that has toured 13 cities, from Latin America to North America, from the Middle East to Asia since 2013. Ankara, being the 14th and the first city in Turkey, the exhibition was opened in Museum Evliyagil. Our artists are sending messages from the future with Future Perfect. The artists take a stand against all the natural, political problems that the world is facing. It’s like they’re giving us a warning before something happens before we enter a dead-end street.”
