The cuisines of MIKTA member countries Türkiye, Mexico, Indonesia, Australia, and Korea were showcased at the “Flavors of MIKTA” gastronomy event held at the Sheraton Hotel. Chefs from each country took to the kitchen to prepare a dish unique to their homeland.

The gastronomy evening, organized by the Embassy of Mexico at the Sheraton Hotel, was attended by several ambassadors and guests. The event was hosted by The Ambassador of Mexico to Türkiye, Jose Luis Martinez Y Hernandez. Participants included Turkish Foreign Ministry Director General for Americas Yaprak Balkan, The Ambassador of Indonesia to Türkiye, Achmad Rizal Purnama, The Ambassador of Australia to Türkiye, Miles Robert Armitage, and The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Türkiye, Yeondoo Jeong.
During his opening remarks, Ambassador Hernandez, highlighted the recent active engagement of the MIKTA group, stating: “If you are hearing the term MIKTA for the first time, let me explain -it represents a team of countries that have decided to work together to promote a stable, prosperous, and peaceful international system.
GLOBAL ISSUES
Mexico, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Türkiye, and Australia have been part of this partnership since 2013, engaging in meaningful discussions on urgent global issues such as peace and security, sustainable development, climate change, and the strengthening of multilateral institutions.
On November 18, during the G20 Summit held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, the leaders of Mexico, Indonesia, the Republic of Korea, Türkiye, and Australia convened for a highly productive meeting.
CONSENSUS
Despite coming from diverse cultures and regions, MIKTA leaders reaffirmed the group’s role as a bridge-builder and facilitator of consensus. “Today’s event is a perfect reflection of the diversity in cultures and backgrounds,” said Hernandez. “You will enjoy dishes and unique flavors that represent our countries’ culinary traditions, prepared with diverse ingredients and techniques.”
During the evening, a special menu was presented, crafted by chefs Erika Torres (Mexico), Haryo Cokro (Indonesia), Hyun Wang (Republic of Korea), Zeki Açıköz (Türkiye), and Onur Çetinkaya (Australia).
