The 28th International Ankara Jazz Festival kicked off with a concert by the Kerem Görsev Trio.
Organized by the Jazz Association with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, the opening event of the 28th International Ankara Jazz Festival took place at the Hilton Hotel. Following the festival’s press meeting and plaque ceremony, the Kerem Görsev Trio performed the opening concert. The trio, featuring Kerem Görsev on piano, Ferit Odman on drums, and Volkan Hürsever on kontrabas, played some of the most beloved pieces in jazz music. Highlighting the growing interest in jazz, Görsev remarked, “Ankara has a very special jazz audience.”
“JAZZ WILL BE THE MUSIC OF THIS CENTURY”
In her statement, Jazz Association President and festival curator Özlem Oktar Varoğlu emphasized their efforts to blend jazz with Turkish art and music and promote Turkish jazz artists internationally. Varoğlu noted that the association has trained over 100 young artists, saying, “They represent our country worldwide, which is a remarkable achievement.” She added that as the number of musicians grows, jazz reaches more people, declaring that the 21st century will belong to jazz music.
