AS part of “Korean Cuisine Week,” organized by the Korean Cultural Center and hosted by Hilton Ankara, chefs Celeste Yumin Jang and Gayoung Hyun have arrived in Ankara to showcase their culinary expertise. During the event, running from November 6 to 9, the chefs will present over 40 authentic Korean dishes, including galbijjim (soy sauce-braised beef ribs), geotjeori (fresh kimchi), miyeok guk (seaweed soup), and a variety of jeon (Korean pancakes).
A CULTURAL EXPERIENCE
At a press conference about the event, Seung-cheol Jeon, Director of the Korean Cultural Center, highlighted the global appeal of Korean culture, stating, “Korean cuisine goes beyond being traditional food; it represents Korea and has become a cultural asset. As Korean content such as K-pop, K-dramas, and K-movies continues to thrive internationally, Korean cuisine has naturally garnered significant attention as well.”
PROMOTING THE COUNTRY’S IMAGE
Jeon also emphasized the importance of cultural festivals in promoting Korea, stating, “Korean food trends like japaguri, Korean-style fried chicken, spicy ramen, kimchi, and mandu are widely recognized in the media. Moreover, Korean cuisine has solidified its status as a cultural asset through food events at international Korean cultural festivals. Korean Cuisine Week, starting on November 6, is designed to meet the growing demand for high-quality Korean cuisine among fans of Korean culture in Turkey and to showcase Korean cuisine as cultural content. I encourage people in Ankara not to miss this opportunity to savor over 40 meticulously prepared Korean dishes, including kimchi, janchiguksu, galbijjim, japchae, and tteokbokki, crafted by our two expert chefs from Korea.”
SEOUL TO ANKARA
Cemal Hoşgül, General Manager of the Hilton Hotel, remarked, “Cuisine is one of the universal languages that bring people together. This is a journey from Seoul to Ankara. Our two distinguished Korean chefs will present dishes they’ve been preparing for days. This week, Ankara will experience a storm of Korean flavors. These dishes, crafted with unique recipes, will offer our guests a true taste of Korea in every bite.”
