THE “A Musical Journey of 65 Years” concert was hosted by Julio Anibal Riano, Colombia’s Ambassador to Ankara, at the Ankara State Theater’s Şinasi Stage. Among the attendees were Selen Evcit, Deputy Director General of the Latin America Department of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, ambassadors, and invited guests. The first part of the concert featured Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in A major. In the second part, works by Turkish and Colombian composers, such as “Üsküdar’a Giderken,” “Mi Buenaventura,” and “Pamplona,” were performed for the audience.

In his opening speech, Colombian Ambassador Julio Anibal Riano said, “Our relations with Türkiye are developing pleasantly and are supported by a strong bilateral agenda. This agenda has been enriched over time through high-level visits.” Riano emphasized the transparent and respectful friendship between Türkiye and Colombia, despite the physical distance, and expressed his hope for an increase in the number of mutual tourists and flights. He summarized his thoughts as follows:

COLOMBIAN COFFEE

“It is important to note that Colombia and Türkiye share an ambitious common goal in the economic field: achieving 5 billion dollars in bilateral trade. This goal, in addition to being a commendable success, opens up a wide horizon of opportunities for prosperity and employment for hundreds of citizens in both regions. This not only promotes commercial exchange but also provides a platform for a better understanding of our roots and cultures. What better way to strengthen these ties than with the exquisite Colombian coffee, symbolizing the dedication, hard work, and resilience of our people, our land, and our country?
The spirit of this dedication has ensured that our coffee reaches this beautiful country with increasing strength. As proof of this success, we can point to the remarkable expansion of the Juan Valdez brand in Türkiye. With over 25 stores in the country, the aroma and flavor of our coffee allow the Turkish people to appreciate and value the virtues and effort that this precious product represents for Colombia. Could there be a more symbolic way to strengthen the ties between our two nations than through coffee and everything it represents socio-culturally for both countries?

TURKS ARE FRIENDS OF ALL CIVILIZED NATIONS

Referring to Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk’s words, ‘The Turks are friends of all civilized nations,’ Riano expressed his admiration for Türkiye’s efforts towards peace, tolerance, and harmony worldwide. He added, ‘The dedicated work carried out under the leadership of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is appreciated by the international community.’

Evcit also noted that their visionary approach in implementing Türkiye’s Latin America and Caribbean outreach policy has borne fruit, as the evolving global dynamics continue to strengthen relations.”
