“Thai Food Festival” Begins

Thai cuisine famous for its enthusiastic use of fresh (rather than dried) herbs and spices have been introduced in Ankara. The “Thai Food Festival” organized by the Thai Embassy at Ankara Hilton Hotel will meet with the Ankara people between 9-12 December.

Thai cuisine, which is known for using seafood, aromatic plants and exotic flavors, will meet enthusiasts at Ankara Hilton Hotel between 9-12 December, where sweet, sour, bitter and savory flavors can be tasted together. As part of the “Thai Food Festival”, which will be held by the Thai Embassy for the second time this year, six chefs who have been invited for the event will introduce the country’s rich cuisine.

Thai chefs who met with the press at the Hilton Hotel before the festival, Weera Kantangkul, Phonphen Mongkhon, Aranya Mingkwan, Methee Soodrak, Anucha Panikorn and Jatuporn Maiphuek cook and presented popular dishes such as Thai glass noodle salad, lamb massaman curry and Thai coconut pancakes.

Taste the Thai Street Food

Thai Ambassador Phantipha Lamsudha Ekarohit in her speech talking about Thai cuisine said, “Thai cuisine has become popular in the world with its charming flavor, exotic ingredients and meticulous presentation. Snacks, fruits and food sold by street vendors are an important part of Thai culture. Thai street food is a very interesting experience for visitors. During the Thai Food Festival, the Embassy hopes to promote the grandeur of Thai food and the exciting Thai street food culture to the Turkish people.”

Among the Best Dishes in the World

Ambassador Ekarohit said, in 2017, Thai food is was among the top 50 dishes in the world, especially the massaman curry took 10th place in 2018’s list. “Thai food has strong aromatic ingredients and a spicy flavor, and it is also very healthy. In 2017, Thai food became one of the 50 best dishes in the world. Tom Yum Goong was 4th, Pad Thai fifth Was 6 th, Som Tam and Massaman Curry 10th. Last year, Massam Curry was named first on this list. Especially at the end of the food festival on Friday, December 13th, our embassy will carry its guests to the streets of Thailand with the support of the Hilton Hotel, introducing street flavors and Thai entertainment.”
