The 181st anniversary of the Dominican Republic’s independence and the 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Türkiye were celebrated with a special concert in Ankara.
Hosted by the Dominican Republic’s Ambassador to Türkiye, Elvis Alam Lora, and his wife, Hala Hraiz de Alam, the chamber concert titled Prelude to Spring took place at Küçük Tiyatro with more than 450 distinguished guests in attendance.
DOMINICAN MELODIES
The concert featured internationally acclaimed Dominican violinist Aisha Syed Castro, who performed alongside pianist Cem Esen, a musician and composer from the Presidential Symphony Orchestra. The duo presented a repertoire that included famous Dominican pieces such as Por Amor by Maestro Solano, El Primer Beso by Julio Alberto Hernández, and Una Primavera Para el Mundo, as well as classical masterpieces like Frank’s Sonata and La Campanella.
Organized in collaboration with the Turkish State Theatres and with the support of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the event was part of Ambassador Alam’s ongoing efforts to promote cultural diplomacy. Ambassador Alam emphasized the significance of welcoming spring and celebrating the enduring friendship between the two nations.
