2025 TO BE THE YEAR OF SCIENCE AND INNOVATION

The Embassy of Hungary in Ankara held its 11th traditional iftar program at the Sheraton Hotel. Hosting the event, Hungarian Ambassador to Türkiye Viktor Matis announced that 2025 would be the “Hungarian-Turkish Year of Science and Innovation” and that they had already launched numerous projects within this framework.

The iftar program was attended by bureaucrats from various ministries, members of the press, and business representatives. In his speech, Ambassador Matis emphasized that 2024 was a significant year in many respects. He highlighted Hungary’s efforts to support Türkiye’s EU accession process as strongly as possible during Hungary’s EU Presidency. Matis also noted that 2024 was designated as the “Hungarian-Turkish Year of Culture,” during which they organized 170 cultural events in Türkiye in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. Looking ahead to 2025, he reiterated that it would be dedicated to science and innovation, with many projects already underway.

GREAT OPPORTUNITIES IN THE ENERGY SECTOR

Ambassador Matis underscored the strong and friendly relations between Türkiye and Hungary, stating that the energy sector also holds great potential for cooperation. He pointed out that both countries had taken significant steps in their energy industries.

ENERGY POLICIES COMPLEMENT EACH OTHER

Highlighting the role of innovative energy solutions in shaping international partnerships, Matis stated, “The energy policies of Türkiye and Hungary complement each other in building a sustainable future. I look forward to taking joint steps towards a more efficient and secure energy partnership.”
