A SPECIAL RECEPTION FOR SCHOLARS

A reception was held at the British Embassy in Türkiye for 25 Turkish students who were selected for the 2024/2025 academic year under the Chevening Scholarship Programme, funded by the United Kingdom since 1983, and who have returned to Türkiye after completing their studies.

THE reception, hosted at the British Embassy Residence, honored 25 Turkish scholars who pursued studies in fields such as international politics, climate change, and psychology at various universities in the United Kingdom under the CHEVENING Scholarship. The event was hosted by Wendy Wyver, Deputy Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Türkiye.

Wendy Wyver

Highlighting that the United Kingdom welcomes more than 600,000 international students annually, Wyver emphasized that the Chevening Alumni Network in Türkiye boasts over 2,000 members spanning sectors such as governance, diplomacy, business, academia, and civil society. During her speech, Wyver shared the following remarks:

“I encourage you, our returning scholars, to actively engage with this vibrant alumni community. It offers endless opportunities for collaboration, mentorship, and professional growth. I would also like to welcome our former alumni. They are long term friends of British Embassy. I am sure they will take this opportunity to meet and welcome our new scholars; exchange ideas and build connections. For our returning scholars, I wish you continued success as you take the next steps in your careers.”

Scholars who studied in the United Kingdom shared their experiences as part of the event.
