COMMEMORATIVE CONCERT FOR BULGARIAN COMPOSER

A concert was organized at the Bulgarian Embassy to commemorate the 125th birth anniversary of Bulgarian composer Pancho Vladigerov. Music students from three different universities performed the celebrated composer’s works during the event. 

Hosted by the Ambassador of Bulgaria to Türkiye, Anguel Tcholakov, the concert was attended by ambassadors, foreign mission representatives, and a large audience of music enthusiasts. Students from Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory, Ankara Music and Fine Arts University, and the Piano Department of the Prof. Pancho Vladigerov National Music Academy presented pieces by the esteemed composer.

The performers of the evening included Nermin Işık, Ece Şanda, Deniz Akalın, Yüske Hosaka, Petar Dülgerov, Georgi Raichev, and Monika Gergova. The young musicians garnered much admiration for their impressive performances.

THE GREATEST BULGARIAN COMPOSER 

Ambassador Anguel Tcholakov described Pancho Vladigerov, born in 1899, as the most influential Bulgarian composer of all time. Sharing further details, he said: “Vladigerov was among the founding members of the Bulgarian Contemporary Music Society, which later became the Union of Bulgarian Composers in 1933. He pioneered several genres in Bulgarian music, including the violin sonata and piano trio. His extensive body of work spans various genres such as opera, ballet, symphonic music, five piano concertos, and two concertos for violin and symphony orchestra.”
