38TH GOLD MEDAL FOR HASAN UÇARSU

Composer and educator Hasan Uçarsu was awarded the 38th Gold Medal of the Foundation Honor Award, which is presented by the Sevda-Cenap And Music Foundation to a composer or performer, educator, art supporter, or institution that has contributed to the recognition, adoption, and development of polyphonic music in our country, to express the gratitude of the foundation and music lovers. Uçarsu received his award at a ceremony held at the And House.

THE ceremony was hosted by Ali Başman, President of the Foundation, and attended by Ahmet Necdet Sezer, 10th President of the Republic of Türkiye, Rengim Gökmen, Conductor of the Orchestra, Özden Toker, daughter of İsmet İnönü and President of the İnönü Foundation.

INTERNATIONAL LEVEL

In his speech at the ceremony, Ali Başman said, “Hasan Uçarsu, who carried our national music to the international level with his great contributions to the national school of composition, was deemed worthy of the Foundation Honor Award Gold Medal for the year 2024, taking into account his understanding of composition and his personality as an educator. Our tribute book, which will be prepared about Uçarsu’s life and works, will take its place in the gold medal series of our foundation, which is a legacy to history.”

Hasan Uçarsu, who received his award from Ali Başman, said, “By receiving this award, I am honored to write my name next to the names that I have valued, admired and taken as an example since my childhood, and who built our contemporary music life.”
