AS part of “Korean Cuisine Week,” organized by the Korean Cultural Center and hosted by Hilton Ankara, chefs Celeste Yumin Jang and Gayoung Hyun have arrived in Ankara. During the event, scheduled for November 6-9, the two chefs will present more than 40 Korean dishes, including galbijjim (soy sauce-braised beef ribs), geotjeori (kimchi), miyeok guk (seaweed soup), and various types of jeon (Korean pancakes).
A CULTURAL EXPERIENCE
At a press conference about the event, Seung-cheol Jeon, Director of the Korean Cultural Center, emphasized the global popularity of Korean culture, saying, “Korean cuisine goes beyond traditional food; it represents Korea and has become a cultural asset of Korea. As Korean content like K-pop, K-dramas, and K-movies continues to achieve great success internationally, naturally, Korean cuisine has also gained attention.”
PROMOTING THE COUNTRY’S IMAGE
Jeon also highlighted the role of cultural festivals in promoting the country, stating, “Korean food trends like japaguri, Korean-style fried chicken, spicy ramen, kimchi, and mandu are widely recognized in the media. Additionally, Korean cuisine has found a place as a cultural asset through food events at international Korean cultural festivals. Korean Cuisine Week, starting on November 6, is organized to meet the demand for high-quality Korean cuisine among Korean culture fans in Turkey and to promote Korean cuisine as cultural content. I recommend that people in Ankara don’t miss this chance to try over 40 different Korean dishes, including kimchi, janchiguksu, galbijjim, japchae, and tteokbokki, meticulously prepared by our two chefs from Korea.”
SEOUL TO ANKARA
Cemal Hoşgül, General Manager of the Hilton Hotel, added, “Cuisine is one of the universal languages that brings people together. This is a journey from Seoul to Ankara. Our two distinguished Korean chefs will present the dishes they have been preparing for days. This week, Ankara will experience a storm of Korean flavors. These dishes, crafted with unique recipes, will give our guests a taste of Korea in every bite.”
