Renowned Turkish artist Bedri Baykam’s solo exhibition, “The Path Openers and the Paths I Seek”, has been unveiled at Galeri Siyah Beyaz for art enthusiasts.

THE exhibition features Baykam’s pieces from various series: “Still Wet”, which showcases his signature use of thick paint and translucent surfaces; “Pathfinders”, a tribute to figures who have shaped his own identity and creative direction—from Baudelaire and Picabia to Picasso, Magritte, Tesla, and Atatürk; and “Studios Lost and Found”, a series made from forgotten materials in his studio.
“I DON’T PAINT THE SAME IMAGE OVER AND OVER”
“I’m not someone who keeps making the same painting over and over,” Baykam said, emphasizing the endless journey of exploration in art. “As long as I’m breathing, the paths I seek will never end,” he added. Speaking about the exhibition, Baykam explained, “I can paint an erotic piece, an abstract collage, a horse race, a portrait of Atatürk, or a tribute to pioneers in art. The way I approach these subjects always changes. Studios Lost and Found is in the exhibition. In it, I use materials that have been with me in the studio—scraps, photos, remnants. One day, it was as if they said to me, ‘So, what’s going to happen to us? Are we going to be discarded? Why are you condemning us to that fate? Use us, transform us into art.’ We made an agreement, and these paintings emerged.”
The exhibition is open to visitors at Galeri Siyah Beyaz until November 30, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily, except Sundays.
