FRENCH artist Julien De Casabianca, who came to Ankara for a series of events, carried out his latest work on the exterior facade of the French Cultural Center in the capital. Casabianca prepared a collage inspired by Jules Breton’s 1884 painting The Song of the Lark. The work was unveiled in a ceremony attended by France’s Ambassador to Ankara, Isabelle Dumont, and the Cultural Attaché of the French Embassy, Gilles Roulland.

LEAVING A MARK ON THE CITY

During her speech at the opening, Ambassador Dumont stated that Casabianca had left a mark on the city, saying, “You have done works on Kennedy Avenue and at the Contemporary Arts Center. But in my opinion, the largest and most impressive one is here.” Dumont also added that Casabianca aimed to open doors for Turkish artists.

THE SENSE OF UNITY MADE PEOPLE LOVE IT

Julien De Casabianca, starting his speech by stating that the most beautiful word in French is “togetherness,” said, “In togetherness, there are feelings like love, affection, and peace. What I discovered during this work was the sense of consensus that people saw when looking at my work. Normally, an artistic situation differentiates people; some like it, some don’t. But everyone loves this work. In my opinion, the reason my work is appreciated is because it creates a sense of unity.”
