ENGİN, who deals with the relationship between the individual and the society through economic and cultural representations, reinterprets some of the symbols and their meanings that remain in the memory and shares them with the viewer. The artist, who works with materials such as metal, neon, fluorescent, photography and ready-made objects, proposes to pursue the truth in this exhibition.

THE BLURRING OF REALITY

The exhibition, which refers to the blurriness of reality, takes note of the present in the context of the recording nature of art and focuses on social, economic and cultural structures that constantly transform due to the capital system. The exhibition establishes a metaphor of the semantic ruptures in the age we live in through symbols in cultural and universal codes.

BEARING WITNESS TO TODAY’S WORLD

Emphasizing the importance of pursuing truth in today’s world, Fırat Engin said the following about his exhibition: “Every event and phenomenon we witness today tends to escape clear definitions and meanings. In such a fleeting reality, the individual, influenced by the broader structure, finds it difficult to position themselves. ‘Oyknock Knock!’ bears witness to today’s world, where truth has become invisible and meaning is starting to fade, while also raising questions about increasingly blurred concepts such as individual rights and freedoms, democracy, ideology, power, and hedonism.”

Fırat Engin’s exhibition “Oyknock Knock!” can be visited until October 19, every day from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM, except Sundays.
