THE ceremony brought together Dutch Ambassador Wijnands, Dutch diplomats, and representatives of the construction company taking over the project. The new embassy building in Oran stands out for its focus on sustainability. Speaking at the event, Ambassador Wijnands emphasized that the building is planned to be completed by March 2026, symbolizing the cooperation between Türkiye and the Netherlands. He also shared that the architectural project was designed by a Dutch firm, while the construction will be carried out by a Turkish company.
A COLLABORATIVE PROJECT
Ambassador Joep Wijnands stated, “This year, we are celebrating 100 years of friendship. This is a beautiful project to demonstrate the collaboration between Türkiye and the Netherlands. In many ways, this is a cooperative project. First, it was designed by a Dutch architect but will be built by a Turkish company. So, we will be working together on this. All the materials for the embassy building will also be sourced from Türkiye.”
IT WILL GENERATE ITS ENERGY
Wijnands highlighted that one of the most important aspects of this building is “sustainability,” pointing out that it would not be an ordinary embassy building but a pioneering project. In addition to sustainability, the building will generate its energy through solar panels. He also mentioned that a water tank would be incorporated, and the surrounding area would feature extensive greenery. Wijnands emphasized that this will be the most sustainable Dutch embassy in the world and expressed pride and happiness at the launch of this special project.
