Buildings in Ankara are Suitable for Mural

Mexican artist Kathrina Rupit’s mural work ‘Blossom’ on the wall of an apartment building on Security Street was opened with a ceremony. Rupit said that the buildings in Ankara are very suitable for such works and that the city will be more colorful with such works.

Mexican artist Kathrina Rupit, who came to the capital for ARTANKARA fair, performed mural work on the exterior of an apartment building on Güvenlik Caddesi in Ayrancı district. The event, which was carried out with the contributions of the Mexican Embassy in Ankara and Çankaya municipality, was opened with a ceremony. Mexican Ambassador to Turkey José Luis Martínez y Hernández, Deputy Mayor of Çankaya Municipality Gülsün Bor Güner, some ambassadors and many art lovers attended the ceremony.

ANKARA GETTING MORE COLORFUL

Kathrina Rupit, who said that she completed this work in three days, and she offered several alternatives to the residents and finally that the work she called ‘Blossom’ was chosen. Rupit explained that while she was working on the mural, the residents of the neighborhood and the building helped her a lot and offered her various treats. Ankara’s buildings are very suitable for applying for such works. With this work paving the way, more projects will merge and Ankara will become a little more colorful.”

MORE MURALS THERE WILL BE

Vice President Güner said the artist’s mural work was brought out in collaboration with residents of the neighborhood and the building. Gülsün Bor Güner stated that there are two other works like this within the boundaries of the municipality and that as Çankaya Municipality, they plan to increase the number of such works by supporting local artists. Güner stated that Rupee touched the theme of women and nature in her work. This mural is very important for women to have equal rights.”

The Mexican Embassy will present a work of Rupit with an Instagram draw. Participants are required to share photos taken in front of the artist’s mural work using #kinmx and #TürkiyedeMeksika hashtags.
