Austrian National Day Celebrated

Militärmusik NÖ Sommer, an Austrian Military Band performed during the event.

The Austrian National Day was celebrated with a reception at the JW Marriott Hotel. A large number of ambassadors and senior officials participated in the night where Austrian military band gave a concert.

Reception was hosted by the Austrian Ambassador to Ankara Johannes Wimmer. Ambassador Wimmer greeted the guests at the entrance of the ballroom. Among the many guests, Ambassador Johannes Wimmer, welcomed Ministry of Foreign Affairs Northern Europe Deputy Director Özgür Kıvanç Altan, many foreign Ambassadors and many other Diplomats. Furthermore, senior representatives of the Turkish government, local and foreign businesspeople. The event opened with the playing of the Austrian and Turkish national anthems.

Welcoming the many guests attending the National Day reception, Ambassador Wimmer, delivered his remarks. “While serving for Austria in Turkey, I see it as a fundamental responsibility to contribute to the commonalities that the two countries are sharing. Turkey is a fascinating and nice place. Me and my wife are delighted to be recognizing Turkey’s rich culture, history and people,”.

All enjoyed the Austrian style reception.

Austrians celebrate their country’s declaration of permanent neutrality after World War II and its regained status as an independent and sovereign nation since October 26, 1955.
